Consistent callum at round 2

New Zealand young gun Callum Hedge enjoyed a strong run at Round 2 of the Paynter Dixon Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship as Earl Bamber Motorsport also enjoyed incredible success.

The weekends started slowly, as Hedge struggled with throttle issues throughout practice. Hedge qualified the Team Porsche New Zealand 992 Cup Car in 5th, disappointed as he felt he did not make the most of the speed the car had.

In the first of the weekends three races, Hedge made gradual progress to finish fourth, before making impressive moves in the second race to rise to second. This delivered Earl Bamber Motorsport their first 1-2 result in this category since the teams first formed in Australia in 2019.

Hedge was unable to challenge teammate Dale Wood in the final race, but maintained an Earl Bamber Motorsport 1-2 to complete a very successful event for the squad as Hedge made solid ground to the championship leader, sitting in 3rd position, with a deficit of 17-points.

It’s a quick turn around for the 19 year old, as Callum jumps on a plane to head to America for Round 3 of the Formula Regional Americas, with testing kicking off on Thursday, 22nd June. Callum is the championship leader, heading into the third round, of the six round championship.

The next Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia round is at Townsville, on July 7-9.
