Hedge wins Gold Coast FInale

It was a successful maiden appearance on “new” home turf, as Callum Hedge took the overall round win on the of the Gold Coast for the final round of the 2022 Paynter Dixon Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship.

Team Porsche New Zealand’s Callum Hedge achieved his second round of the season following his success at Townsville earlier this year.

“Of all the tracks to get pole and a race win, I wouldn’t have expected it to come here," Hedge admitted.
"I thought this track was where I was going to struggle the most.”

Hedge’s weekend got off to the perfect start when he achieved pole position before converting this into Race 1 victory holding off more experienced drivers on the tight street circuit.

Although he wasn’t able to hold out a charging Aaron Love, Hedge finished the final pair of races in second to complete a successful maiden campaign sixth in the standings.

“It’s come to the end of the championship now and I can’t thank Porsche New Zealand and Earl Bamber Motorsport enough for believing in me all year in addition to 2021 as well.

“To come away with the highest placed rookie, two round wins from my maiden season, is something I’m really stoked with.”

Callum now turns his focus to heading back to New Zealand, in preperation for the 2023 Toyota Racing Series which kicks off in January.
