Teen sensation Callum Hedge has secured significant backing from Tony Quinn to support his 2023 motorsport program.

Hedge, who recently turned 19, has been announced as the winner of the Tony Quinn Foundation shootout, which comes with a prize of $70,000 Toyota Gazoo Racing credit to put towards his Toyota Racing Series debut in 2023.

Hedge impressed the likes of four-time Bathurst 1000 winner, Greg Murphy to pip fellow youngsters Billy Frazer and Liam Sceats in the Hampton Downs shootout.

Having moved up through Earl Bamber Motorsport’s Porsche system from the 2021 Sprint Challenge to competing in Porsche Carrera Cup this season, Hedge is looking forward to TRS.

“TRS is something that I’ve really wanted to do for a long time,” said the two-time Carrera Cup race winer.

“I’ve watched the series over the years. I was never old enough to compete in it and for the two years I was, the series didn’t run [due to Covid-19]. It’s been a long time coming, and I’m looking forward to giving it my best shot.

“It’s proven time and time again that regardless of what you’re aiming to achieve in racing, whether it be V8 Supercars, IndyCar, Formula 1 or GT endurance racing, TRS is a huge stepping stone and keeps you share, helps you up your game and you also get to race against some of the best in the world, right at home and around your friends and family.”

The five-round 2023 series will include the 67th running of the New Zealand Grand Prix, to be held at Hampton Downs on February 3-5.
